The last thing my makeup collection needed was another mascara but there was just so much hype and talk about the new Benefit Cosmetics Bad Gal Bang mascara that I couldn't help myself. I had also read some mixed reviews about it so I really wanted to try it out.

I decided a couple of weeks ago to pick up the mini version and see how that went before I committed to the full size. The mini size only costs €12.00 which is a total bargain and economical considering you are advised to replace your mascara every three months. The packaging states that 90% of users saw dramatic volume and 92% said it lengthened lashes. The mascara contains aero-particles which is one of the lightest known materials and is used in the making of astronaut spacesuits! How cool is that?

When I first used it I had mixed feelings. The consistency of it felt a little different to other mascaras I've used in the past. It felt watery and kinda difficult to use. To be perfectly honest I made a bit of a mess of it the first time I tried it but I was determined to make it work after seeing so many stunning before and after images online. I stuck with it and after a few days I mastered it. I find for best results you need to take your time, get right to the root of the lash and wiggle and lift your brush the whole way to the tip of the lash. Doing this will separate the lashes ensuring each one gets a coat of mascara. The brush is quite slim so that makes it super easy to apply root to tip. Sometimes to really fluff them up I will comb through them with a spoolie brush or a disposable mascara wand while the mascara is still wet and it makes them look amazing.

So is it worth the hype and worth the little extra effort with application? Absolutely 100% YES!! The results this mascara give are actually unbelievable. The look long, full and jet black while also being lightweight and smudge free. My eyelashes are non existent and with this mascara I feel like I have lash extensions. I don't have the fanciest camera in the world but you can see from the images included in this post that they before and after is dramatically different. When my little mini runs out I will absolutely be repurchasing it.

Have you tried it? What did you think? I would LOVE to know your thoughts.
