Tried & Tested | Budget Foundations

Finding the right type and the right shade of foundation is crucial to your makeup look. We all need different things from our foundation and we all have different tastes. For example, I have an oily skin type which is sometimes dehydrated and I like a medium to full or full coverage foundation. Buying expensive products doesn't always mean they are the best. I am and have always been a firm believer that budget brands can be just as good if not better in some cases.
Wet N Wild Photo Focus Foundation

The Wet N Wild Photo Focus Foundation really, really took me by surprise. It has a medium buildable coverage with a dewy, lightweight finish. You wouldn't even know there was anything on your skin. It actually glides on like silk and a little goes a very long way. I apply my Wet N Wild Photo Focus Foundation with a stippling brush starting from the centre of my face and blending outwards. I then apply a little more to the centre of my forehead, along my nose and on my chin (basically my tzone) where my makeup tends to break down first and this increases it's longevity. Wet N Wild is available in most Penneys stores.

NOTE Cosmetics BB Cream

I was sent out this to try from the NOTE Cosmetics PR team and to be honest I really didn't think I would like it. I have tried soooo many BB Creams in the past from affordable and highend brands and never liked them purely because they didn't give me enough coverage. I thought it was pointless spending money when it looked like I had nothing on my face. However the NOTE Cosmetics BB Cream broke all the rules and it gives the most gorgeous coverage and has a formula that just smoothes over the skin. It contains ingredients to hydrate your skin and with continued use it will help to reduce dark spots and areas of uneven skin tones. It's almost like a skin treatment and foundation all in one.

JOKO Cashmere Finish Foundation

JOKO Cashmere Finish Mat & Cover Foundation is my go to foundation when I am wearing fake tan because the shade I have is a little too dark to wear without it. I had read numerous reports and reviews online claiming that it was a dupe for the infamous Estée Lauder Double Wear which is a big claim. Having used both and while they are similar I personally find the JOKO Cashmere Finish a little lighter and more comfortable to wear. Don't get me wrong, I do love the Double Wear but I find continuous use of it dries out my skin so I can't use it as my everyday foundation. The JOKO Cashmere Finish is alot more affordable to.

Flormar Perfect Coverage Foundation

Flormar Perfect Coverage Foundation is some heavy duty stuff. It covers everything and I mean EVERYTHING. Out of all the budget foundations I have tried I feel this one gives the most coverage. I reach for it if I am having a bit of a rubbish skin day or if I need a bit of staying power. I wrote a review of well over a year ago and it is the most read blog post on my website ever!! I see it recommended again and again online so it is definitely one to consider the next time you need a new base.

Catrice Cosmetics HD Liquid Coverage Foundation

I picked up the Catrice HD Liquid Coverage Foundation a few months ago and used it until it was gone and I really liked it. Initially I didn't like the dropper that comes with it but eventually it grew on me. It gives a medium, lightweight coverage and when set with a loose powder it has really good longevity. For best results I first apply it with a stippling brush and then bounce some more into the skin with a damp, flat beauty blender. Catrice Cosmetics is a really good affordable brand who are brilliant for keeping up with makeup trends. You will find it in Penneys and selected pharmacies around the country.

So they are just a few of my favourite budget foundations. I would love to know if you have tried any of them or what your favourite budget foundation is.
