The Best Concealer For...

Hi everyone.

In this post I am going to discuss my favourite concealers and what I use them for. I have also included a few little tips and tricks to help you look flawless.

The best concealer for covering dark circles.

The best kind of concealer to cover dark circles with is a concealer with an orange base. I know it sounds a bit crazy to use an orange toned one but orange cancels out blues and greys so it will help with dark circles. The warm orange tone will lift and neutralise cool ones. I don't invest a lot of time or money into orange based concealers because I don't really get dark circles but my favourite one when I do I almost always use the one for dark circles from the IsaDora Colour Correcting Concealer palette. When applying concealer to my under eye area to cover dark circles I usually tap it into the skin with my ring finger.

The shade I use is the one directly opposite the green one.

The best concealer for covering redness.

I get redness at the edges of my nose and it can be so sooo annoying. If it is particularly bright you will need to use a green concealer to cover it. In my experience no amount of standard concealer or foundation will fully disguise it. My favourite green concealer to use is the Urban Decay Naked Skin Color Correcting Concealer in green. It is lightweight, easy to apply and easy to blend. Proceed with caution when applying green concealer, you really only need a small amount blended well. Applying too much will give a grey appearance when you apply your foundation over it. If you are looking for a more budget friendly green concealer Catrice Cosmetics do a really good one.

The best concealer to brighten under eyes.

This is something I do every single day! By brightening the under eye area you instantly look more awake and gives the skin a healthier, fresher appearance. I am OBSESSED with the Urban Decay Naked Skin Weightless Coverage Concealer and I mean obsessed. I have repurchased this again and again over the past few years. For best results I would suggest going a shade lighter than your foundation. I sometimes even go two shades lighter to get a really brightened look but this isn't for everyone. A more affordable one would be the Catrice Liquid Camouflage. This was hailed by many as a dupe for the Urban Decay one but to be honest I don't think it is. Don't get me wrong, I think it's really good but not exactly a dupe.

The best concealer to hide blemishes.

So if you are trying to cover a big horrible red spot you have a few options. I would first try and cover it with a cream concealer close to your own natural skin tone. Catrice do a really good one in a little round pot. I am all out of mine at the moment but it is amazing!! However if the spot is really red and aggressive looking you may need to apply a little green concealer mentioned above to neutralise the redness prior to applying the concealer close to your skintone. Some people do this before foundation and some do it after. Personally I like to do it before hand because the foundation can then provide another layer of coverage. For best results I use a big fluffy brush to buff on the products to the blemish. This ensures an even and a full coverage.

The best under eye concealer for dry skin.

If you have dry skin you need an under eye concealer than is lightweight, radiant and creamy. I personally don't have dry skin but working as a beautician a lot of my clients would have. I recently started using products from cruelty free brand JOKO. The JOKO Perfect Skin Concealer is perfect because it doesn't contain any nasty ingredients so it won't dry out the skin any further. It remains quite dewy on the skin aswell so it doesn't dry into a matte finish. You can get 20% OFF www.joko.ie with the code 'MELISSA'.

The lighter shade on the left is 001 and the darker shade on the right is 002.

The best concealer for cream contouring.

I have used a lot and I mean a lot of different products to cream contour but my favourite hands down is the SOSU by Suzanne Jackson Complete Contour palette. It comes with six different shades including a cream highligher and a powder contour. The products are really soft and creamy making them easy to apply and blend to get that chizzled Kim Kardashian look. Cream contouring can be a lot of work especially if it is something you are not used to doing. I only really do it for a night out or occasion.

The best all round concealer.

A really good purchase if you are starting out with makeup or on the look out for one really good heavy duty concealer is the NOTE Cosmetics Full Coverage Concealer. This hides bags like no tomorrow. It is brilliant for brightening under the eyes, carving out your eyebrows and it can also be used as an eyeshadow base when set with powder. It is a must have in any makeup bag.

I hope you all found something in this post to help you out in some way, shape or form. If you have questions you can pop them below, email me or contact me at any of my social media accounts.
