Tontouring With Cocoa Brown

It is time for Kim Kardashian and her contouring to step aside because Marissa Carter and her tontouring are in town!! So what is tontouring? Tontouring is basically contouring but with false tan. It's sounds messy but it really isn't and once you get the hang of it you will be addicted.

To achieve the perfect tontour you will need the following...
  • Cocoa Brown Gentle Bronze Gradual Moisturiser. (RRP €5.95)
  • Either Cocoa Brown 1Hour Mousse or Cocoa Brown 1Hour Mousse in Dark for those of you who like a deep colour. (RRP €7.95)
  • A Cocoa Brown Deluxe Double Sided Velour Tanning Mitt. (RRP €5.99)
  • Finally you will need a good stippling brush. The one I like to use is the Real Techniques Expert Face Brush.

To begin apply your Cocoa Brown Gentle Bronze all over your face and neck. This will give you a gorgeous base colour. There is no need to be nervous applying this product to your face because it is oil free and non-comodegenic meaning it won't block your pores or cause break outs. Also the colour is gives your face is incredibly natural and subtle so I stress to you do not be nervous.

Next you need to grab your Cocoa Brown Double Sided Velour Tanning Mitt and apply a small amount of your chosen mousse (1Hour or 1Hour Dark) onto it. After that you need to dip a stippling brush of your choice into the tan and apply it to your face. I recommend using small amounts to begin with and keep building on it until you reach your desired effect.

Like the diagram below shows I usually tontour my cheekbones, the sides of my nose, my jawline, my temples and right across the very top of my forehead. By contouring or tontouring the aim is to bring back something we don't like. For example I feel like I have quite a big nose so by tontouring the sides of my nose it gives it the illusion of it being slimmer.

The next step is definitely the most important one and it is to blend. You need to blend the product in really, really well to get the perfect naturally contoured look. The blending of the mousse really is the make or break point of your tontour so really buff it in well.

Because I am a mammy, I work full time and I blog I don't always have time or energy to apply a full face of makeup so by tontouring only once a week I can be confident in knowing that I atleast have a base colour thanks to my Cocoa Brown Gentle Bronze and a perfect tontour also. The fact that your only really need to tontour once a week takes the headache out of messing around with conceallers or powders. All I have to do is apply a little concealler, my brows, mascara and a lip colour for an effortless and casual everyday makeup look.

These photos were taken the morning after I done my tontour. I used the Sleek Brow Kit, a decent amount of Urban Decay Naked Skin Concealer to cover dark circles and redness, Rimmel Match Perfection Powder, Lancome Volume-a-Porter Mascara, Urban Decay Stark Naked lipstick and Urban Decay All Nighter Setting Spray.
