REVIEW | W7 Power Puff Face Blender Sponge

REVIEW | W7 Power Puff Face Blender Sponge

What is it? A face blender sponge

Where can I buy it? Simply Foxy. Click HERE.

How much is it? RRP €3.95

The power puff is W7 Cosmetics' answer to the Original Beauty Blender, the Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge etc. To be honest I always found these little guys strange. I just couldn't understand how I was going to apply my product with a wet sponge and not remove it as I went along. It baffled me like!!

  • Hold your power puff under running water until it has completely soaked through.
  • Take the sponge away from the running water and squeeze through thoroughly. You want to remove as much excess water as possible.
  • Apply your foundation in a dabbing motion starting from the centre of the face outwards.

I used the W7 power puff with the La Roche Posey Toleraine Teint foundation, this is a favourite of mine at the moment and it worked amazingly well. It gave a beautiful, even finish. The tapered tip on the W7 power puff made it super easy to apply and blend foundation on areas which can usually be quite awkward like near your inner eyes and around the nose. I love using the very tip of the power puff to apply my Urban Decay Naked Skin Concealer to my brow bone, under eye area and cupid's bow.

After hours of wear my makeup can sometimes get a little shiny across my nose and the centre of my forehead. I recently purchased the Benefit Cosmetics Licence To Blot stick which I love but I find a quick dab with the sponge on the oily areas and the shine is gone. I sound like a cleaning product advertisement... BANG and the shine is gone!! The power puff can also be used to apply powder foundations and blushes but I am keeping it for my liquid based products at the moment.

To wash your power puff use a mild cleanser and some warm water and allow it to air dry. It should be washed at least once a week. The W7 Power Puff Face Blender Sponge is available in six fun, bright and gorgeous shades so there is one to match all makeup bags and all styles. It has made my foundation and concealer application soooo much quicker and easier. A huge thumbs up from me.

UMagazine and Benefit Cosmetics Beauty Bash

Earlier this week I attended the UMagazine and Benefit Cosmetics Beauty Bash in the Clarion Hotel in Cork. To be honest I wasn't sure what to expect from the evening but I went along anyway as I had heard great things from the beauty bash events in Dublin. It was so nice that such a big event had made it's way down to rebel town.

The Clarion is such a beautiful hotel overlooking the quays in Cork city. We were treated to a glass of champagne on arrival and then escorted to the event by bobblehead Benebabes! The room looked beautiful... almost like a wedding. The event itself was hosted by UMagazine editor Jen and Mark Rogers, the voice of Benefit Cosmetics Ireland. The fun and energy Mark brought to the room was unbelievable. I have never been to an event with someone so entertaining presenting it. I actually think I lost weight I laughed that much!! His knowledge and experience is very impressive. It isn't often I pick up new tips but my god I learned so much from him.

So Mark kicked off the show with a little demo of Benefit's skincare products and with his beautiful model Elaine showed us how to create a flawless base for our makeup. Did you know that you are only supposed to put powder in a triangle in the middle of your face?? Because I didn't!! I whack it on everywhere and say a quick prayer for my makeup to last. Now I only apply it across my nose and the centre of my forehead and it allows the rest of my skin achieve that gorgeous dewy glow.

After Mark's first demo we got some beautiful snacks thanks to the Clarion. On the menu was Thai fish cakes with chilli mayo, mini vegetable spring rolls, delicious Malaysian beef satay and a side salad. It was so yummy. While we ate five ladies were selected for a best dressed competition. The winner was a gorgeous girly named Sophie who wore a floral jumpsuit and very impressive Kurt Geiger heels. I had actually spotted her shoes downstairs before the event and thought they were AMAZING.

Hair genius and Today Show regular Pamela from Sobe Brown in Cork shared some tips and tricks with us on how to achieve a curly blow dry at home and how to turn that curly blow dry into a stunning upstyle in minutes!! She made it look so easy. On the night the DIY curly blow dry look modelled by gorgeous Benebabe Gail was named the ''Belfie'' as in blow dry selfie. I bought the tools that Pamela used so here hoping I can recreate it myself... watch this space!

Mark then gave us all a demo and some tips on how to create the infamous Kim Kardashian contouring and highlighting look followed by a eyebrow and flick liner look. All in all he done a fantastic job displaying the products, educating us and entertaining. Like when I get married I am hunting him down to do my makeup. The best Benebabes in Ireland were on hand on the night for touch ups and to answer any questions we had about the products.

The goodie bag from the event was great. The Clarion Hotel gave us vouchers for lunch in their Atrium CafĂ© and Kudos Bar a fab discount for their Essence Spa. I am checking out their website this evening to see what I want to book in for. UMagazine gave everyone in the audience a copy of their latest issue and last but not least Benefit gave us a voucher for a free makeup application, some deluxe samples and a generous discount on the night.

Grace Burrows (Make Me Up blog) and myself at the event.
All in all I had a fabulous night and hope to attend more of these events in future. I would like to extend a MASSIVE thank you to The Clarion Hotel, UMagazine and of course everyone at Benefit Ireland for making a regular Thursday evening a lot more fun and glamorous. Well done guys!

Now everyone excuse me while I go perfect my 'Belfie'...

Chat soon loves.

Fringe is SO in.

Fringing is going to be HUGE this Summer. It's popping up everywhere!! To be honest it's not a style I have ever considered before but it is growing on me big time!! Today's blog post is going to be on my favourite and the more fabulous fringed finds on the highstreet and online.

Image 1 of ALDO Tharesa Leather Fringe Gladiator Knee Flat Sandals
These ALDO shoes are combining two of this seasons biggest trends, fringe and gladiator. Although they are beautiful, they are definitely a pay day treat. See more pics of these beauties right HERE
This LASULA jumpsuit is ideal for going to a festival. It would be super cute with flats of patterned wellies.
Add a pop of colour to your Summer wardrobe with this kimono from Littlewoods.
This grey suede tassel jacket would be ideal for cooler Summer evenings when you need a little something to wrap up but don't want a full on coat. Check it out on the Pretty Little Liars site HERE.

When I get my before baby body back I will 100% wear something like this. It is just so gorgeous for Summer and can be worn with jeans, shorts, skirts whatever. Have a closer look HERE.
I love the style and the colour of these fringe shorts from Missguided. I have bought loads off of this site and the quality is amazing!! See more photos HERE.
I love the simplicity of this tassled bikini from the Nostalgia range on I wish I was going on holidays!! Check it out HERE.

I LOVE shoes and these beauts from iClothing have been doing the rounds on social media lately. I don't know why I think this but don't they just look so comfortable? Like aren't they just to die for?? The best part of it is, they only cost €49.00 and they are also available in nude. Check them out HERE
I spotted this bag in H&M during the week. It is so cute and only costs €9.99. What an absolute total bargain!! I love a shoulder bag and this one is bang on trend!

What do you think of the fringe trend? Let me know in the comments below.

Monthly Favourites | May 2015

June 1st and it's lashing rain. I spent the day in my pyjamas being lazy!! I am currently sitting beside a gorgeous fire, eating apple tart and you do!!

First up in my monthly favourites is the Seventeen WOW! Skin Tan Liquid Glow. This stuff is magic. It is summer in a bottle!! I love mixing it with my primer or popping a little onto the back of my hand and using a stippling brush to apply it to my cheekbones. I haven't tried it yet but I plan on applying it to my collarbones and shin bones to give my tan that dewy glow. 100% a must have product in your summer makeup bag.

Earlier this month I got the most awful breakout on my chin. I don't even know what caused it to be honest and I was desperate for a solution. I spotted the Vichy Normaderm Haulspot in work and decided to give it a go. It worked amazingly well!! It dried up my spots and got rid of them in two or three days depending on their original size.

This product contain salisylic acid which can be quite drying on the skin so be sure to only apply it directly to your spot. I used a cotton bud sometimes just to be sure and apply it right to the area.

When it comes to applying eyelashes either strip or individual the adhesive is everything!! I wear eyelashes 90% of the time and I always apply them with the DUO Eyelash Adhesive. Even though it looks tiny it lasts a hell of a long time. For best results apply DUO to the false eyelashes, blow on them for like 45 seconds to make the adhesive tacky and then aiming for the centre of your eye pop on the lashes.

The search for the perfect nude lipstick is never ending! However I have found a firm favourite in none other than the Essence Cosmetics range. The shade is 'Oh So Matt' and it is oh so impressive. I applied this in a hurry one morning going to work and it lasted six hours flawlessly before it needed a little touch up in the centre of my lips.

Considering the price of these lipsticks I cannot believe I had gotten that amount of time before a top up. I can't remember the exact price but I'm sure it was less that €3!! If you see them...grab them!!

I only picked up the Sleek Makeup Brow Kit the other day but I have used it a few times and I love it. I have used so many eyebrow products that it's not often one would stick out but this one really impressed me. I bought it in the dark shade because my hair is quite dark and I love a dramatic brow.

The kit includes pigmented wax, powder, an angled brush, a blending brush and a cute little mini tweezers for only €9.99. Months ago I bought the Benefit Browzing palette and I am raging now because there is absolutely no difference what so ever in the two.

The IsaDora Colour Correcting Concealer Palette is my best friend in the morning. It makes me look normal!!! The orange tone for dark circles is magic. I usually apply that one underneath my foundation and the lighter concealer over it. I then pop on some powder and it holds for the whole day.

I get a lot of redness across my nose and now and again I get a bad spot that needs covering. The green concealer is amazing for this. If you do plan on using on make sure you blend it out well otherwise the green may leave sort of a grey veil on your skin.

The Catrice Cosmetics Multi Colour Compact Powder in shade 010 Rose Beige has been my go to powder for the past few weeks. This powder contains five incredibly mattifying shades which perfectly even out your complexion. The powder itself it soft and ultra-fine. I bought this powder to try something a little different. Sometimes I feel like translucent powders can be a little chalky but this one brings just the right amount of warmth to my skin.

What were you guys loving this month?
