Mel's January Favs!!!

Hi everyone!!

So one of my new years resolutions for my blog was to do the tradition monthly favourites blog post! I was sitting here relaxing and then was like crap its January 31st!!! So read on to see what I am loving this month!

I picked this up in my local pharmacy the other day, THANK GOD I have an NYX Cosmetics stockist near and I love it. It is only €5.99 and can be used to brighten the eyes by applying it to the waterline, as an invisable lipliner or to conceal unwanted freckles. I think freckles are beautiful but the ones who have them seem to hate them.

Shock horror this is the first No7 product I have ever bought!! I know, mad right?? Anyways it is so soooo good. It is suitable for all skin types and ages. It fills in open pores and minimalises fine lines and wrinkles. At €25.25 it is on the more expensive end of things but it is worth every pennys. A little goes a long way so the extra few euro means you get longer out of it and better results!

This toothpaste has been all over my facebook lately because it is amazing. It completely transformed my teeth in just two weeks. I absolutely love it! Not only did it whiten my teeth but it made my gums go from an inflamed red to a healthy pink. I purchased mine in my local pharmacy for €4.95. Prices can vary from place to place. I have five of these to giveaway on my facebook page thanks to the lovely people at Beverly Hills. The winners will be announced on 14/10/2015.
I have the Pearl Pink one of these a while and it is one of the best highlighters going in my opinion. MeMeMe Cosmetics sent me out a beautiful set containing two illuminators (Pearl Pink and Oyster Gold) and two really nice lip and cheek tints. I said I would pop them on my January favourites post because they are just that good and they make your skin glow!! The Oyster Gold Illuminator is a perfect dupe for Benefit Watts Up and less than half the price!!
Last but not least is the Karora Cosmetics CC (colour correcting) cream. Karora sent me out some products to try and this one I love!! It is a totally unique product in that it is almost like a moisturiser, a fake tan and a colour correcting veil combined. It is perfect for someone who doesn't usually wear tan and fancies a bit of colour or as an everyday colour for tan lovers. It has fast become one of my fab everyday tans. Personally I keep my tan natural day to day but would go quite dark with it for nights out, events, weddings etc. The colour correcting end of things helps to combats problems like redness, acne, varicose veins, mild stretch marks etc. The photo below shows one leg with the CC Cream and one without.
So guys, that's it for my January favourites. If you have any favs you tried out this month let me know. I will add them to a wish list!! Have you tried any of the products above?
Lots of love,

How I Create A Flawless Base

How I Create A Flawless Base

The most important part of creating a flawless makeup base is skincare. The past month or so I have been following a very strict skincare routine and I can see a huge difference in both my skin with and without makeup.

Eye Makeup Remover: Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water
Cleanser: Dermalogica Special Cleansing Gel
Scrub: Dermalogica Daily Microfoliant
Toner: Garnier Soft Essentials
Moisturiser: Declare Matifying Cream
Serum: Sonya Aloe Nourishing Serum
I know that seems like a lot of products but they are so amazing and make my skin feel great. It doesn't take long to do my routine. Last night I had Uptown Funk on repeat and it played three times while I was doing my skincare so that's just a rough idea for you guys!! "Coz uptown funk gon' give it to ya!!" LOVE that song. Lol!!
After doing my skincare routine I usually either brush my teeth or do my hair. This gives your skin a chance to breathe, relax and take in your moisturiser and/or serum. When your moisturiser feels tacky to the touch then it is ready for makeup!!

Next I apply my primer. My absolute favourite primer right now is the No7 Airbrush Away Primer. It is FAB! It feels silky smooth, fills pores and fine lines and creates a flawless canvas for the following products. You can apply primer with a stippling brush, a beauty blender, clean fingers whatever.

Once my primer is applied all over I then do my colour correcting. I use a green concealer from my AYU Dublin concealler palette on any redness I may have. I have a small bit around my nostrils and next my nose. This is the only way to cancel out redness, no amount of foundation will cover it for the day. After this I pop a very small amount of orange based concealler under my eyes to cover my bags...the jobs of being a busy blogger mum!! The bags under my eyes are designer... I swear!!
If I was going to use cream conceallers for highlighting and contouring I would do it now. You need to contour with a concealler two shades darker than your foundation and highlight with one two shades lighter.

Last but not least is the foundation! My absolute favourite foundation the past few months is the Catrice Nude Illusion. It is light but still gives great coverage, it lasts and is so affordable. Today I used a Rimmel foundation and I am very happy with it although I want to use it for a few more days to form a good opinion on it. Other foundations I like are MAC Studio Fix Fluid, Push HD foundation and Maybelline Fit Me. I apply my foundation using a Real Techniques stippling brush. It buffs on the makeup to a flawless, high definition finish and doesn't trap or soak up product like a sponge would so you get more from your foundation.

I hope this helps some of you create a stunning, flawless makeup base.

Love Melissa xx

5 Ways I Use My NYX Milk Jumbo Eye Pencil

5 Ways I Use My NYX Milk Jumbo Eye Pencil
1. I like to use it under my eye and on my brow bone to brighten and define.

 2. I use it all over my lips as a base for my lipstick.

3. I apply it to my cupids bow and all along the top of my lip to make my lips look larger. It looks ridiculous but it works!!

 4. After shading in my brows I like to use it to clean up the bottom line and to rehighlight.

5. Last but not least is the obvious one. I use it on my upper and lower waterline to make my eyes look bigger.

Apologies for me being in my pyjamas in the photos! It was about 7:30am this morning. My skin is also super dehydrated at the moment. I have had a few lazy days skincare wise and I am paying for it now.

This was my finished makeup look...

Liebster Award Nomination

Liebster Award Nomination
Thank you to Grainne from Tres-Belle Blog for nominating me for the liebster award. It is basically like a mini interview of random questions set out by Grainne for me to answer. It is a cute way for bloggers and followers to get to know each other better.
1. Why did you chose to do a blog?
I chose to do a blog because I love beauty, fashion and all things girly. I needed a place to vent all my beauty ramblings and knowledge. My main aim with my blog is to help girls look as amazing as possible without spending loads of money! Eventually I would LOVE to have my own little column in a magazine... that's the dream!
 2. If you could be any celebrity for the day who would it be and why?
Right now it would be Conor McGregor purely because he is such an influential figure and his career is going from strength to strength. I have no real interest in the actual fighting he does but I have total admiration for his attitude and confidence. He is literally fighting for what he wants. Like he says himself... ''I don't take part, I take over!''
3. Who is your celeb or real life inspiration?
As cheesy as this sounds I'm going to say my mammy. She is without doubt the most amazing woman EVER. I love her with all my heart and she is a wonderful nana to Jake. I hope I can be half the mother to Jake that she is to me and my sisters. However she didn't do it all herself, my daddy is the most loving and hardworking man I know. He definitely has a little soft spot for all his girls and his new grandson Jake... who may as well be his twin!
4. If you could own any car what would it be?
I don't know much about cars to be honest but I would love either a cute little baby pink or cream beetle or a gorgeous BMW or Audi in white!
5. If you could chose only four pieces of clothing from your wardrobe what would they be?
When I quit my last job in a pharmacy I treated myself to a beautiful fuchsia pink leather handbag from Cari's Closet, that would be one. My other three items would be my faux fur leopard print coat, white converse and an LBD. Oh and my CĂ©line Paris t-shirt. I know that's five but oh well!

 6. Where was your last holiday?
My last holiday was to my favourite place in the world, Barcelona. I met Josh in Barcelona in 2007 and I LOVE going back there now especially with him. It's a very special place... and amazing for shopping.

7. Where do you see yourself in five years time?
In five years time I would LOVE to be still blogging. I am determined to keep blogging as long as possible. I would really love to be writing a magazine column about beauty, nails etc. I know I mentioned that above but that is what I really want to do someday. In five years time Jake will be in school... that's a scary thought.

8. If you only had one day to live, what would you do?
This is quite a morbid one but I would like to spend it surrounded by my family, friends and loved ones.

9. What would be your last meal if you were on death row?
My last meal would be a cheeseboard and a glass of wine!

10. What is your favourite quote?
My favourite quote is ''No matter how you feel, get up, dress up, show up and never give up.''

I would like to nominate Katie from Blogging It Beautiful, Emma from Mastering Your Makeup and Jess from Chaos Wearing Lipgloss! Xx
These are your questions!
1. How did you chose your blog name?
2. Why did you decide to start a blog?
3. Have you any tips for beginner bloggers?
4. If you could only ever wear clothes from one store, what store would it be? (money is no problem)
5. What is your all time favourite makeup brand?
6. What are your favourite perfumes?
7. What three words would you use to describe yourself?
8. What makeup product could you not live without?
9. If you could swap lives with any celebrity who would it be?
10. What is the best makeup tip you have ever seen or been given?

REVIEW | Beverly Hills Formula Perfect White Black

So today's blog post is my review and results of the Beverly Hills Formula black toothpaste. When I first posted this to my blogs social media sites lots of you guys wanted to know where you could get it and what it was like etc. Today I am going to give you all the lowdown.

Obviously my first thought was OMG this toothpaste is black, I cannot put this in my mouth but honestly it smells and tastes just as minty and fresh as any other toothpaste so don't be put off by that. The reason why the toothpaste is black in colour is because it contains activated charcoal which is proven to clean and whiten teeth. I started using it on January 6th 2014 so today will be exactly two weeks since I started using it and I think my results below speak for themselves.

I took the photos when I had no makeup on because I wanted the pictures to show a true and natural result. We all know that a good dark tan or a blue tinted lipstick will make our teeth appear whiter so I wanted no gimmicks like that. I genuinely cannot believe the results myself. I am in love with this product.
It's also really popular with reality TV star Charlotte Crosby and Irish beauty guru and Cocoa Brown creator Marissa Carter.

Follow this link for a list of stockists:

2. Share it to your page.
3. Tag a friend or friends that make you smile
I will chose five lucky ladies at random who will each win a toothpaste on February 14th 2015.

Lots of love

REVIEW | Karora CC Cream

REVIEW | Karora CC Cream
I have never used a product like the Karora CC Cream before. CC for those of you who have never heard of it stands for colour correcting. The Karora CC Cream is part of the new Karora Get Glo Fabulous range and is both waterproof and transfer resistant which is a huge plus. It can be used on both the body and the face to cover things like varicose veins, acne, red or blotchy skin, bruises, cellulite etc.

I used the Karora CC Cream all over my body and I love it. I wouldn't class it as a fake tan. It is more like a tinted moisturiser with amazing coverage and just a hint of colour. It is perfect for girls who wouldn't usually wear a tan or for tan wearers as an everyday skin corrector. It's like your own skin only healthier looking.

I think the pictures speak for themselves on how well it works. The top picture is before and the bottom is after... obviously. The picture below shows one leg with the CC Cream and one leg without. Place excuse my sock lines. The socks were right up today because it was sooo cold. I waited ages for them to reduce down and they wouldn't and I was dying to get my Karora on. Irish girl problems eh??
In the photo above, the blotchy redness you can see on my right leg was all over my left knee to and the CC Cream blended it away. Finally below are my finishing results. The Karora CC Cream dries in quite fast and it smells gorgeous!!! My boyfriend thinks it smells like strawberry jelly...MEN! Excuse my night dress but I just have to show off my pins!!!
Karora CC Cream is available in Lloyd's Pharmacy, Sam McCauleys, McCabes and other independent pharmacies nationwide for €24.99 for a 100ml bottle.
Give it a try!
I can promise you that you have never tried anything like it before!

REVIEW | Cocoa Brown 1Hr Tan Mousse Dark Shade

When Cocoa Brown first brought out their original 1hr tan we all rejoiced. A new exciting Irish brand of tan with no smell and pink packaging... we loved it! However for some of us ladies we needed just something a little darker. Personally I love both shades as the darkness of my tan would depend on where I am going and/or what I plan on wearing. So all you ladies who like a good deep bronzed glow read on...
So yesterday (24hours prior to tanning) I showered and done whatever hair removal needed to be done and then I used the Cocoa Brown Tough Stuff Body Scrub to prepare my skin for tanning. You can read my full Tough Stuff review here.
Today about 30 minutes before I applied my Cocoa Brown tan I used their Chocolate Whip Oil Free Body Moisturizer on my hands, knees, elbows, ankles and feet to ensure an even application and no over gathering of product. I LOVE the fact that this product is oil free because a product which contains oil will form a barrier between your tan and your skin. A product which contains oil may also effect the results of your application and/or the longevity of your tan. So thank you Cocoa Crown for a fab moisturizer that smells of chocolate.

So now hair free and moisturised I am ready to get my Cocoa Brown bronze on. I applied the product using a tanning mitt and it went on pretty easy and blended well. It does have a smell but it's mild and pleasant. It gave a colour instantly which is good because you can see how much and where you have applied it. In my photos of me holding the bottles above I am wearing the Cocoa Brown Mousse. Isn't it stunning?

After application I put on my pyjamas and waited the one hour for my tan to develop. I felt like the pyjamas had to be pink in support of Cocoa Brown. Those ladies LOVE pink!!
So one hour went by and here are some pics of my tan...
Over the next week or so I will reapply the Cocoa Brown Oil Free Chocolate Whip Body Moisturiser to insure an even fade and to increase the longevity of my tan. It will also make sure my skin stays well hydrated and super smooth. When it comes to removing my tan I will use the Cocoa Brown Tough Stuff Body Scrub again, it never fails me.
I hope you all enjoyed this blog post.
Happy tanning!
